Ah Olde Madrid is a hit in Racine. The reason may be that there is nothing like it for miles. You have to go to Chicago or maybe Milwaukee for TRUE Spanish Tapas restaurant. It is more like Spanish fusion than something authentic. I overheard one customer call them "tap-us." For the record, they're pronounced "Tah-pahs." Yes it's a start to bring some cuisine culture to Southeastern Wisconsin, but it has a ways to go. The person who I ate with enjoyed the food but for me there was nothing special about it. I congratulate it though for being chosen as the Best of Racine for 2007 and for being something new and cute. One other recommendation is get a website!
A popular, busy Spanish-themed restaurant in downtown Racine serving a variety tapas and paellas, plus several entrees. Our paella was disappointing, but most of the tapas selections were good enough, and a few were excellent.
Service was professional, despite the full house on both visits.
